Heather Cappello finishes 3rd and Chris Allen 5th in the Half Marathon.
Chris Allen is no stranger to rainy day races with his debut Boston Marathon finish this past April where he survived the torrential rain with a 2:36:27 finish. Allen debuted in the 13.1 mile distance at the 2016 B.A.A. Half Marathon also under a deluge of rain finishing in 1:08:57. On Saturday morning, cold rain greeted the runners for the 25th running of the Eversource Marathon and Half. Despite the chilly race day, Allen performed well finishing 5th overall in 1:07:43. B.A.A.’s Brian Harvey followed finishing 6th overall in 1:08:19 with B.A.A.’s Alex Taylor in 8th overall finishing in 1:08:25. In the Masters division, David Bedoya placed a close second finishing 26th overall in 1:11:56. Heather Cappello returned to racing this summer after taking time off last year with an injury. Now in true form, Cappello turned in a solid performance placing 3rd overall in 1:17:42. Harvey, Taylor and Cappello now look ahead to the CIM in December with eyes on hitting the OTQ while Allen trades in the flats for the spikes as he prepares for the cross country season.
In the Marathon, B.A.A.’s Karolyn Bowley raced to a new personal best finishing 8th overall female and 2nd Master in 2:54:57, a notable improvement from her 2017 time of 3:06:22.
